Chinese Brands Take 10 Of Brazil's Top 15 Electric Motorcycle Spots, H1 2026

Brazil released its first-half registration data last month. Out of the top 15 electric motorcycle brands on the list, ten are from China. GCX came in second with 1,076 units. SHINERAY (Xinyuan) was third. Yadea made the top 15 too, along with Aipao, SM and a few others.

Brazil's electric motorcycle sales are up around 41% year-to-date. Q1 was even crazier - some months showed growth above 400% before settling down. The country is already the fourth-biggest motorcycle market on the planet, and it's finally electrifying.

Three reasons, as we see it from the factory side:

First, Rota 2030 keeps the tax break on electric two-wheelers versus gasoline bikes.

Second, iFood, Rappi and the delivery fleets are buying electric in bulk because a rider saves real money on fuel every single day.

Third, Chinese factories like us finally hit the price/quality sweet spot - 2,000–3,000W scooters with removable lithium batteries, built to meet INMETRO, at a price no Honda or Vespa can touch.

It's not just Brazil

The same thing is starting across Latin America.

Mexico sold 585,280 motorcycles in Q1 alone, up 32.8% year-on-year. The country's fleet has gone from 2 million to 8.9 million in ten years. Mexico City now requires anything over 25 km/h to be plated and ridden with an A1/A2 license, so the grey-market importers are suddenly looking for certified supply.

Argentina has cut import duties on electric two-wheelers. Colombia is writing its own rules under Resolution 160.

The whole Latin American electric motorcycle market was about USD 151 million in 2025, with Brazil around USD 61 million.

Growth is tracking at roughly 8.5% a year through the early 2030s. The distributors who get serious now are the ones who'll be sitting pretty when the market really opens up.

What we tell our own customers

We've been exporting from Guangzhou for years, and we've watched this change happen. A few things we'd say to any importer or fleet buyer reading this:

Don't just take a "certificate available" at face value. Ask for the actual type-approval file - EEC/COC, INMETRO, NOM - before you sign anything.

Ask about the battery spec order to order. We've seen cheaper quotes quietly swap cell grades between shipments to save 15 dollars. That's a recall waiting to happen.

Ask whether the factory can do CKD kits or private labeling. If your sales take off, you don't want to be stuck buying fully built units at a premium.

And ask the real container count. 20GP and 40HQ numbers, not the "up to" marketing figure.
